Bonny Doon Vin Gris De Cigare :
This wine confounds expectations. Even though it's pink, it's
dry. And even though it's from California, it tastes for all the world like a
good rose from Provence. Given its reasonable price tag, it's an excellent
choice for warm-weather sipping. Pink wines have fallen out of favor in America,
largely due to the mistaken perception that they have to be
sappy and sweet. But
dry wines in that color can be some of the best wines in any hue for summer
drinking. They're made primarily from dark-skinned grapes (in this case grenache,
mourvedre and syrah) but spend less time in contact with the tannic grape skins.
As a result, they're only lightly colored, and even more important, not at all
astrigent. In addition to the juice from the dark grapes, the winemakers at
Bonny Doon add some white wine (grenache blanc and roussanne) to the blend. This
gives the finished pink wine a fairly rich texture, making it even more
versatile at the supper table. Tasting of fresh red berries, with a hint of
dried herbs, this wine will pair well with a wide variety of foods-everything
from grilled fish to main-course salads, and roast chicken to summer soup. (It
would be great with gazpacho.) A good pink wine made in this sort of dry,
refreshing style is just the thing to choose when a white wine seems too light
and a red too heavy. Washington Times May 17, 2006

de Susana Balbo Rose of Malbec 2007 (Argentina)
Wine Tasting Notes
A beautiful, deep, vibrant rose color. Has a surprising amount of glycerin and
body for a rose wine, and beautiful aromas of fresh, ripe wild strawberries. On
the palate, the flavors of strawberries and cherries come rushing in,
accompanied by some spice notes and a clean, dry finish. This is the wine to
serve with warm-weather meals when there is a mix of traditional white & red
wine foods. Keep one in the fridge at all times and youll always have a
delicious wine to enjoy with light snacks and cheeses. Best consumed in its
youth.

Remy Pannier Rosé
d'Anjou
The color is very pale onion skin, the bouquet a lovely amalgam of pear,
watermelon and crushed strawberries. In the mouth, it's crisp and delicate,
finely honed with limestone, juicy with strawberry-raspberry flavors but austere
on the finish. Very charming. Groslot, also spelled grolleau, is an old red
(actually black) grape that is disappearing from the Loire Valley. Because of
high acidity, it is allowed by law only in rose wines.

Domaine Bergerie
de l'Hortus Rose
“This brilliantly appetizing rose remains one of my
absolute favourites. Also made from Grenache (like so many lipsmacking pinks),
with aromas of red summer fruits and fresh herbs that will make your nostrils
twitch with pleasure. Magic with a simple tomato salad – or salmon.” Mary Dowey,
Irish Times Magazine.
